Oct 16, 2008 · On the bottom side of my tongue, near to wear the tongue attaches to the bottom of my mouth, there is a small, inflammed lump on the left hand side of my tongue. It feels very uncomfortable and hot. I am curious what's under my tongue or floor of my mouth. It has been 5 days now. I have a smaller similar lump. It started as pain when I was chewing but the next day I felt a lump under my jaw right neck area. It was visible but painless. However, the lump under my toungue felt salty every time I ate something regardless if it was salty or not.
Lymph nodes under the tongue, just like those occurring in other parts of the body, are often small, pea-sized. They can be felt as small lumps under the skin. Lymph nodes on either side of the tongue can be felt in the neck. Swollen glands under the tongue on one side are easily noticeable due to the increase in size. The tongue web piercing or sometimes called a marley, pierces the tongue frenulum. The Frenulum is the webbing that connects the underside of the tongue to the floor of the mouth. The purpose of this webbing is to insure the growth of the tongue progresses forward in the mouth. After birth the tongue continues to grow and extend past this point.
